HOODOO 500 is a 500 mile (805 km) non-stop ultra-cycling race in Utah, USA. The most epic and challenging event of its kind, the Hoodoo 500 route passes through or around three National Parks: Zion, Bryce and Capitol Reef; three National Monuments: Pipe Springs, Grand Staircase-Escalante and Cedar Breaks; countless Utah State Parks including Anasazi, Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Kodachrome and Snow Canyon, and meanders in and out of the Dixie National Forest. The scenery varies from majestic cliffs and striking red rock hoodoos to aspen and pine forests and high mountain meadows.
I participated in the virtual format of this event on 27 Aug 20 and covered the distance of 805 km with an elevation gain of 9,144 m in 41 hours. I rode indoors on ZWIFT (online cycling platform) integrated with a TacX Neo smart interactive cycling trainer.
